SEPTEMBER VEGAS PROMOTIONS (Part 2)

By now, the casino websites should have all the updates about September promotions, including for Labor Day weekend and kicking off the football season.  Here are some new details I just found out in my wanderings around the city.

PALMS

Some machines are still not showing your point accumulation as you play, but will show the correct total after you remove your card and then put it back in.

They are still running the long term buffet promotion where you can redeem points for a free meal. Pick up the brochure in the Promotions room for details, including on how many points it takes for the various meals. It takes a lot more VP points than those earned on slots. This promo and a lot of other things may change when the buffet, 24/7 Café, and room service is taken over by an outside contractor, on November 1 according to one employee report.

According to several “Comments” on my last blog, you do not have to be a member to shop with Costco gift cards. (An example of additional good information on my blog subjects you might find in the “Comments” section on the right side of my blog homepage.)

If you want details on any Palms promotion (i.e. drawings), you will usually find a brochure in the Promotions room with all the details. I can’t emphasize how important it is to get ALL the details before you decide to take part in ANY promotion in any casino. Not reading the fine print can lead you into a very disappointing and frustrating place!

DOWNTOWN GRAND

They have a new slot club but the brochure describing it is not complete. They describe a 3-tier system but don’t name the tiers. They refer to them by the color of the players cards: beginning with white, then silver, and the top one is black. The brochure states that $1 coin-in = 1 point and 250 points= $1 in free slot play. But it seems that this is for slots but it takes $2 coin-in to get 1 point playing video poker which drops that value from .4% to .2%.

You have to be Silver for free valet and free parking in the self-parking garage.

BOYD PROPERTIES (The Orleans, Gold Coast, Suncoast, and Sam’s Town)

Hit a royal and get a free play bonus at the Gold Coast Sunday-Thursday, September 6-30, according to my mailer. And according to the placemat at an Orleans restaurant – I look everywhere for promotions – that same promo in running there also. Check their websites for details.

TUSCANY

The 20% all-month senior discount travels to Caffé Bottega for September.

A Scratch-and-Win promo is running on Sundays.  Earn 500 base points and you will receive one scratch-off card that will reveal free slot dollars or slot points.  Prizes range from $5 to $500.  Max of four card each Sunday.

Sundays also are Military Appreciation Day, with 2-for-1 entrees at the Cantina or Marilyn’s Café, a free coffee at Caffé Bottega, and 20% off in the gift shop.

ELLIS ISLAND

Some good news here – I stopped by last night and checked out things – bravely choosing to enter a definitely hopping party late on a Friday night that was the opening of the expected-to-be-wild Labor Day weekend in Las Vegas!   The previously good multiple-point system is back – if it is a 10x-point day, you start earning 10 times points from your first hand.  None of that tricky tier stuff.

I didn’t have my stash of coins with me, but according to employees at the players club the details seem pretty straight forward:  you dump your coins in a machine right by the cashier cage and a voucher will spit out.  The machine takes all coins, including pennies and dimes.  You take that voucher to the cage and they will give you 100% of the total in cash OR 120% as a free play voucher – your choice.   You can do this any day in September, but only two times.  However, they said there was no limit on how many coins you could process at one time.   Next week I will take our stash of coins and go through this process.  Will let you know if there are any snags.

  1. Julie says:

More on the party at Ellis. I last played at Ellis in January, and only came back to play through the free play on the “Passport Perks” postcards I recieved, and cash out. I stiffed them for a few months, but the postcards continued anyway, adding up to a pretty good amount.
My husband also received an invite. He stopped playing in December. Boothlings told him there were no offers for him, and he has received no more mailers since. He does not even get the free pizzas when swiping his card on Tuesday or Saturday. In the fall of 2014, he hit two $2 royals, and a few deuces.
I believe a person wrote on VPFree that he had been tresspassed, yet received an invitation.

  2. Julie says:

To continue with what my husband was told at Ellis. The lady at the booth said you must play the free play on the same day you redeem your coins.

  3. Julie says:

My mailer from Ellis Island says the coins for 120% free play promotion is only good on Wednesdays. My husband was there today (Wed., 9/9) and was told the max coins you could redeem was $4oo. Can Ellis ever get their act together?

  4. Brad nor I did not get invited to that party – but we had not played since they changed the system. We will do a trial play this month to see if we will get any bounce-back.

  5. Julie says:

Jean, were you invited to last Saturday’s dinner party at Ellis Island? I looked for you. They gave us quite an awesome spread, plus $100 free play and and a choice of good gifts, including a Kindle. I saw a friend who had been no mailed after winning a lot. She had also gotten an invitation, but not a September mailer. She swiped at the kiosk, and didn’t even get the Saturday food offer.
I suppose they realize that people did not like the changes!

  6. William Clark says:

I enjoyed it. Keep up, the good work.

  7. Benjamin Clow says:

Thanks for the promotion offers. My wife and I come out to Las Vegas for our yearly trip this month.
