SEPTEMBER VEGAS PROMOTION NEWS

OOPS – Dead Bodies in TWO casinos

Last month I wrote:  “REAL BODIES” human anatomy exhibition just opened at Bally’s Las Vegas –located on the lower level.  I think this is the one that used to be at Luxor and perhaps other casinos before that?

Wrong!  I just found out that there are dueling “Dead Body” companies.  Who knew!  The old one at the Luxor is still there; the one at Bally’s is a new one.  Hummm…I saw one of these many years ago but I forget in which casino.  It was interesting but I’m not interested in checking these two out to see which one is best.  I’ll leave that to you readers who are into dead bodies!

CAESARS PROPERTIES

When we visited Harrah’s Cherokee in May, we liked that we could get our picture put on the back of our players card.  It sometimes – but not always – saves you pulling out your ID for certain transactions in the casino. This hasn’t been available in the Las Vegas area for quite a while and recently was discontinued in Harrah’s Resort Southern California.  So we wondered where else this was offered.  As usual when I need Caesars details, I went to Darryl D. McEwen, publisher of the Seven Stars Insider, a valuable Internet resource for anyone, at any tier level, who plays at any Caesars property. He says they will take your picture and put it on your card at Horseshoe Bossier City, all three of the AC properties, and Harrah’s Philadelphia. If you have recent experience at any other property that offers this benefit, please put it in “Comments.”

BOYD PROPERTIES (The Orleans, Gold Coast, Suncoast, and Sam’s Town)

The last two months we have been talking about a new promotional wrinkle in Boyd property promotions, seemingly an expansion of their marketing that will offer more promotions unique to each specific property but with some new cross-marketing between properties.  I can’t seem to find any general promotional information to give here.  I have had reports from many players who have very different offers, differing in the number of mailers from various properties, differing details about where you can pick up your free play, and differing multi-point days.  So my constant advice should especially be heeded here:  Read carefully the details of any promotion, including the fine print where you will find restrictions, exceptions, and all sorts of other dangers!!!

These differences even show up in the Young at Heart senior promotion on Wednesdays.  Although the basic promotion is run at all 4 properties mentioned above, the details are very different.  I printed out the rules so I could keep track of all of them!

Even in the usual multiple-point promotion on holidays, which often covers all properties, you might find that the fine print must not be skipped.  Example in today’s local newspaper:  Top of the page they list all Boyd properties, including the above 4 in my list plus the 3 downtown.  Then in big blue numbers they give the multiples for Labor Day: 15x for penny reels, 11x for slots, and 7x for video poker.   But did you notice the * beside California and Main Street Station and go down to the bottom of the page and read the fine print: Multipliers at California and Main Street Station are valid for local residents in 89000-89199 zip codes. Some restrictions apply. See B Connected for details.

SOUTH POINT

No double-point days here in September as has been the case for several months now, replaced by special casino-wide promotions.  I hope they haven’t permanently discarded double-point promotions – I looked forward to them.  I am not particularly fond of the casino-wide ones.

TUSCANY SUITES & CASINO

For September the monthly senior 20% discount moves to Tuscany Gardens, their popular Italian restaurant.

Lakeside Casino at South Lake Tahoe has issued a photo players card a couple of years ago

  2. Bob says:

Having your picture on the back of your players card has been available (for the top two tiers) at the Aquarius in Laughlin for years now, so I assume it’s also available at the Stratosphere and the two Arizona Charlie’s properties in Las Vegas, since they are all under the same ownership.
