OCTOBER VEGAS PROMOTION NEWS

Actually today’s entry is really just a short detour from the subject I have been concentrating on for several weeks and plan to continue – that is, how to figure the value of players club points.  Before you can figure the worth of a promotion, you need to know the base numbers on which you add the promotion numbers.

In my last entry, I talked about using vpFREE2 to find the EV and location of a game and also the players club point percentage.  I also warned that casinos change so much that this is only the beginning for your research, that you always have to double-check info with eyes-on scouting. Some players did that and found that the Spin Poker I mentioned at Silver Sevens, with the 10/7 Double Bonus, was gone.  They also found out that machines that contained 8/5 Bonus Poker didn’t qualify for point multipliers.  Fortunately they reported this and vpFREE2 updated the database. I strongly encourage this reporting; the more players who submit new information, the more helpful that resource will be.

BOYD PROPERTIES (The Orleans, Gold Coast, Suncoast, and Sam’s Town, and sometimes their downtown properties.)

I constantly drum on the warning to always read the fine print – and this is always especially important when you are checking on Boyd properties since they often vary promotions from one casino to another.  Usually this fine print lists restrictions that are negative for the player, but this month I was pleasantly surprised by some good-news fine print.  On my Gold Coast mailer, I read “No cap” on the section that told about the Columbus Day and Halloween 7x VP multiple-points promotion.  There is the usual cap of 10,000 on VP on the weekly 6x VP Tuesday promotion.  I have not seen other mailers, so you need to check the fine print in other places.  I will double-check these details before I start playing; I have learned to pick up a printed sheet at each individual property that gives the full details of the promotions at that particular casino.

The Orleans and Gold Coast are continuing their B Loyal to the Royal promo, Sunday-Thursday October 2-27.  I finally cashed in on this promotion last week after “hoping” unsuccessfully for a long time!  However, this might have some negative consequences in the future – I know that Boyd bounce-back free play drops down after winning periods! 🙁

SOUTH POINT

Finally a double-point day here – on Halloween!

TUSCANY SUITES & CASINO

For October the monthly senior 20% discount moves to the Caffé Bottega.

A pull-tab promotion is back here, on Wednesdays.  Earn 200 points for one pull, with a limit of 4 per player, per day.

PALMS

October will be a transition month as Club Palms will be merged into the Station Casinos Boarding Pass.  The new owners are stressing that “Your Palms points are NOT going away.”  You are cautioned to keep your Palms players club card until the merger is completed by November 1.

I will give more details as I get them.

ALIANTE

I haven’t seen much about the changes here that Boyd Gaming, the new owner, will be making.  It seems the most immediate change will be the transition to the Boyd sports book management.   I did see one report that said it will not be folded into the B Connected players club until 2017.  As above, I will give more details when I have them.

Stay tuned to my next as I will be giving more examples of how to figure out the value of a total VP play, adding all the extras you can find.

It has been verified that this WAS in place on Columbus Day so I think we can assume it will be on Halloween.

Any news about the “no cap” multiplier day on Columbus Day and Halloween at Gold Coast ?

The Palms goodies and gift card promos were at times pretty good, which means that they will not survive the Palms’ Stationization. I base that assumption on what happened at the Santa Fe and the Fiestas when the Borg, I mean Stations, ate them. All existing promos were taken behind the barn and shot. This includes mailers–people who had been getting good mailers found themselves getting coupons for 3% off the buffet and fifteen cents free play (redeemable only on a specific Tuesday between 10 and 11 pm).

Stations promos are all about giving a few crumbs to everybody rather than big prizes to a few. You see that in their frequent kiosk games where you win $1.50 worth of points the vast majority of the time (though in the last couple months, you couldn’t even get that). So I expect a laser focus on eliminating the big players and APs, and small, crummy promos for the masses.

And that bank of .25 FPDW machines over in the corner are trembling in fear at their approaching execution.

The LVA 50% off coupon is good at The Palms

  5. chihuahua says:

what about the LVA 50% coupon? Where is it still honored at? I will be there in 10 days.
    Thanks

  6. Tuesday 6x points is only for those that receive mailers. I am a Nevada resident but not a Las Vegas local so I suspect that this only applies to Las Vegas locals. My mailers are for free rooms and occasional gift cards.

Hi, Jean! Knowing that you and Brad play at the Palms, and without knowing a lot about what changes are actually coming, would you share your initial thoughts on this merger?

  8. jason says:

Promos are just not the same anymore. I love to hear about what is happening though.

  9. jason says:

    Great tips here Jean. Thanks

I like be reading about the comps for video poker players at Caesar’s resorts. However, it seems to get worse every quarter. We are Seven Star members, and our offers are becoming worse than terrible. Are we paying for the settlement for the bankruptcy?

This is the link that Stations has put out for information on the Palms conversion to Boarding pass. https://stationcasinosoffers.com/welcomepalms/

400 Palms Points (which were worth $1) will be converted to 1,000 Boarding Pass Points (which are worth $1). The conversion will be done around October 24 (although it doesn’t say how). It does look like a lot of the Palms promotions such as playing for prizes and gift cards will be changing.
