PALMS TO STATIONS UPDATE

It’s still transition time. Many changes have been made, but all the kinks haven’t been worked out and some programs and policies have not yet gone through a switch.  Often there are excruciating long lines at the players club, but I will have to praise the patience of the workers there who will go to all lengths to try to solve problems . And when they are unsuccessful to find answers and solutions, they can turn to supervisors who are very knowledgeable and can almost always provide a satisfactory resolution.

Often when I ask a question, an employee will say that this particular issue will probably not change or be settled until January or later. This seems to be the situation for the Senior benefit program. Right now the only senior perk that I have found is the half-price buffet discount on Thursdays and the senior movie-refreshment combo which is also on Thursdays. Hopefully the regular Stations check-cashing program will be introduced soon . Right now, they are running a rinky-dink promotion with a make-shift Spin-the-Wheel with extremely small prizes that are almost insulting.

Speaking about the Palms buffet, Brad and I have eaten there twice recently. I gave it a good grade the first time, a big improvement from past experiences there. Brad wasn’t as impressed. However, the second time was on Thanksgiving Day and we both and four others with us gave it high grades. There was a large variety of choices and the quality was very good. Of course, judging buffets is such a personal thing, so others may have differing opinions. It doesn’t compare to fancy Strip extravaganzas, but I feel it is a good value for a lower-price choice.

The VIP parking areas on both sides of the casino are now open. If you are in either of the top two tiers of the players club, you can ask at the players club for a VIP pass card that will open the gates. I have not tested this personally but I was told that this VIP pass card will work at any Station casino – and if you have one from another Station property it will work at the Palms.  Someone might want to verify this in the “Comments.”

So far there aren’t any changes in the credit line department. You can still get markers based on your Palms application. I don’t know if you will have to fill out new Stations paperwork sometime in the future or it will simply be an automatic switch-over.

Learning to use the new Boarding Pass system is an on-going and sometimes difficult task, especially if you were not a Stations customer in the past. And even for this latter group, not all features have transferred over as yet. So patience will be needed. And when you see a mailing or newspaper ad with some promotion or feature you would like to take advantage of, always check at the bottom of the page to see what Station properties are listed and see whether the Palms is listed – or not!

  1. To be safe I’d go to the Palms players club desk and see if they want/need to give you a new card. You definitely should do this if you had a higher level Palms card than your Stations one so you get a new card with a bumped-up level!

If we make it to Vegas next month and already have a Boarding Pass card, will we still have to go to the Players Club booth?
Thanks for sharing the info on the changeover.

In response to George’s comment, can stations really deny you chairman benefits once you reach chairman? Does this happen often? Did they give you a reason?

  4. Most people know I haven’t cooked much at all for 30 years. Casino comps save me a lot of time and money!

Jean I thought you would cook Brad a 20lb turkey with all the fixings for thanksgiving,
then eat it for a week? what happened?

  6. Catherine Cohen says:

I can confirm, Stations VIP parking card I aquired from another Stations property works at Palms VIP parking at the east garage.

  7. George Lee says:

I was upgraded to Chairman level EXCEPT I don’t really receive much benefit. Inquiring at Sunset Station, they looked up my record and said I am tagged as DNI (do not invite). No cruises, no 6x pts, no, no!

My experience at the Palms buffet was it has not been much of an improvement.

    Thanks for necessary info Jean.

You mentioned markers. I have switched to using Certegy Check Cashing services instead of markers. Much quicker at CZR and other properties. You don’t have to carry checks; they print a slip similar to a credit card charge slip that you sign and get your cash. And, you don’t have to stand in line another time to pay off your markers. Plus you don’t have to apply at every casino. Once set up with Certegy, you can use it anywhere.

I can verify that the Stations VIP parking card works at the Palms east garage.
