APRIL VEGAS PROMOTION NEWS

First an explanation about these blogs in which I discuss casino promotions. Obviously I talk about only a tiny percentage of casinos in Las Vegas. I often have more personal and detailed information about just the very few where we play, but I sometimes hear or read about interesting/helpful promotions in others where we never or rarely play so I include them as well.  One reader wrote about being disappointed that we don’t play downtown: It almost sounds to me like you are abandoning those out-of-towners like my wife, myself, and our daughters who prefer to stay in the Fremont and do our video poker playing downtown. Please don’t throw us in the briar patch.

Just because I don’t mention your favorite casino doesn’t mean I think it is not a good place to play. Each player has his/her own personal goals and where one chooses to play depends on so many different factors, including such things as location, level of play, kinds of benefits. The choice of casinos for locals – like us – are often much different than those for tourists. However, I report on promotions for both groups. I particularly like to mention those that might be suitable for out-of-towners but haven’t been widely promoted except locally.

Also another note, for those who have been hunting for Scot’s multiple-point list on the new LVA website. It has been moved. From the homepage, click on “Gambling with an Edge,” then “The Games,” and then “Players Club Bonus Points.”  Or, here is the direct link. While you are under “The Games,” you can also check “New Member Promotions,” where you might find a good signing bonus you didn’t know about that might just introduce you to a new casino.

SOUTH POINT

Some interesting details, from a long press release I got in an e-mail:

Comped Meals: South Point Casino Club members have the chance to win complimentary lunch or dinner at the Garden Buffet every Monday through Thursday throughout April. To win one free lunch buffet, slot machine players must earn 300 same day base slot points between 3 a.m. and 1 p.m. Club members can earn a complimentary dinner buffet by winning 600 same day base slot points before 8 p.m. To receive complimentary buffet tickets, Club members must present their IDs and swipe their Casino Club card at any kiosk to verify their points by 2 p.m. for a lunch buffet and by 9 p.m. for a dinner buffet. Players must then redeem their lunch and/or dinner tickets at any Casino Club kiosk between 7 a.m. and midnight to receive their complimentary Garden Buffet coupons. All players must be 21 years of age or older and can only be awarded one complimentary lunch or dinner buffet per day per player, based on same day play points. Complimentary buffet coupons are valid Monday through Thursday only and expire May 4, 2017.

For the Seniors: South Point Casino Club Card players age 50 and older have the opportunity to participate in a Seniors 50+ Slot Tournament every Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Casino Card holders will receive a free tournament entry when they swipe their Club Card at any Club kiosk. Participants may receive additional entries into the slot tournament for every 250 points earned while playing South Point Casino slots, video poker or video reel machines. The slot tournament will give away $5,200 in cash and free play prizes each week including a $1,500 cash prize to the first place winner.

For sports betters: South Point’s Race and Sports Books are now offering USFantasy Sports, the exclusive provider of legal Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) contests in Nevada. The daily fantasy platform utilizes a pari-mutuel system, which creates a fair and transparent environment for all contestants. At this time, it is available for professional football, basketball and hockey games. USFantasy Sports is a skill-based fantasy wagering platform that combines elements of traditional sports betting with traditional DFS contests. Just like in DFS, players score points based on their performance in a live game and contestants can bet on athletes to Win, Place or Show.

STATIONS CASINOS

Multiple points (10x/6x) are back for seniors at the Stations and Fiesta casinos on “My Generation” Wednesdays.   Do you think they heard all that screaming when they went away in March????  🙂    (Note: Palms is not included in this promotion. They run their own senior program on Tuesdays and it does not include a regular multiple-point bonus every week.)

Also a new press release here, with a new way to earn Boarding Pass points without even entering a casino:

Red Rock Resorts, Inc., the manager and majority owner of Station Casinos LLC, announced today that Station Casinos LLC will be launching “StationPlay”, a free online social gaming application, in the second quarter of 2017.  This innovative application will offer players the opportunity to play–for free–hundreds of their favorite casino games, and the ability to earn Boarding Pass points redeemable at any of Station Casinos’ twenty properties located throughout the Las Vegas valley.  The application will be fully integrated with Station Casinos’ award-winning Boarding Pass Program and will be available on desktop and mobile.  StationPlay will also feature industry-leading gaming content, thereby allowing players to enjoy their favorite slot, video poker, table game, bingo and poker products, along with tournament games. This new application will provide Boarding Pass members an additional benefit under the “My Rewards” component of the Boarding Pass program, which now allows guests to earn points for spend at both gaming and non-gaming amenities.  “StationPlay will allow us to provide another great benefit to our Boarding Pass members by allowing them the ability to earn Boarding Pass points through a custom, free-play social gaming experience while at home or on the go,” said Staci Alonso, Executive Vice President of Innovation and Administration for Station Casinos.

TUSCANY

The 20% senior discount moves to Tuscany Gardens for the whole month of April.

PALMS

Nice convenience for players who work during the day or can’t get there for other reasons: If you can’t pick up your free gifts at the Palms during the regular hours of 11-7, you can pick them up at the Rewards Center from 7 p.m.-midnight. Chairman and President cardholders can do an early pickup between 10-11 a.m.

The movie-ticket promo is not going on in April, but is replaced with a free car-wash one. Earn 300 same-day points on Thursdays, April 6 & 20 only, and visit the Rewards Center to redeem. There is also an Instant Prize promotion on Mondays; earn 5 points and then visit a kiosk to see what you won. Guaranteed prizes include free slot play, cash, dining offers, and gifts.

The 50+ Boom senior promotion takes place on “Timeless Tuesdays.” Earn points for free buffets – but you keep the points: 100 for breakfast, 200 for lunch, and 300 for diner. $5 movie tickets for those showing over-50 ID and a Boarding Pass card at the theater. 50 points will get you in the two drawings, at 4:15 and 6:15.

BOYD PROPERTIES (The Orleans, Gold Coast, Suncoast, Sam’s Town, California, Fremont, and Main Street Station)

All I can say here is read your mailers very very carefully. Some offers can be redeemed at any of the 7 properties, and then there are many promotions that are specific to only one or two properties. Also double-check EACH casino’s website and click on any links there to find the details of each promotion. And whenever you come across a promotion that is for locals only, that usually means your address has to be in the Zip codes beginning 890.. or 891..

THE PLAZA

And finally, Scot just alerted me to a casino that, instead of excluding non-locals, is one with players club rules in favor of the visitors! As part of the changes in its Royal Rewards program in 2017, the Plaza revised the points system, (apparently) so visitors who may not frequent the property as often as a local can still earn the Ace level.

If they are out of state:

0-4999 Jack

5,000-14999 Queen

15,000-24999 King

25000+ Ace

If they are local:

0-19,999 Jack

20,000-39,999-Queen

40,000-99,999-King

100,000+ Ace

Nice move, Plaza!

Gift days at the Orleans are now on Mondays. Found that out last week Tuesday when my family went over for the buffet and then were going to play to get the gift. Well darn!

Free slot tourney at the Tuscany for Seniors on Thursdays, as well as a free cup of coffee. You can find out at Noon on Friday if you made the Top 25. They are also giving gifts for seniors that earn 250 points on Thursdays. Limit two gifts per person.

  2. Kim says:

    Hi Jean
Let us say all casinos and point days are equal…… Is it better to play $100 on one day or $20 on each of five days? Thanks Kim
