Quickie Diamond-in-a-Day

IF you can get to Laughlin in December and IF you want to get to the Harrah’s Diamond Tier, here is a promotion in which you might be interested: Earn 3,000 points in one day in December, from midnight to midnight, at Harrah’s Laughlin, and you will earn your Diamond card for the entire 2010 year AND it will be good until March 31, 2011.

Now I very well know that many players no longer play at Harrah’s because of some of their cost-cutting and player-unfriendly moves. However, for many, Harrah’s remains a good opportunity to snag free rooms at casinos across the country and that is important to them. Thus this may be valuable information since you usually have to earn 11,000 points to achieve Diamond status.

Please don’t write and ask me what the best video poker games are at Harrah’s Laughlin and where they are located. My goal is to teach you how to be a successful fisherman for life, not to put a fish dinner in front of you for individual meals.

You can go to the excellent VP resource at vpFREE2 and find out about the best VP in casinos across the country plus valuable information about their slot club benefits and comp systems.

Skillful luck on all your fishing trips!

I want to thank the blogger very much not only for this post but also for his all previous efforts. I found jscott.lvablog.com to be greatly interesting. I will be coming back to jscott.lvablog.com for more information.

  3. Hey, not everyone wants to be a video poker player. And Harrah’s is one of best in rewarding slot players with free rooms and other valuable comps. With the variety of Harrah’s casinos that you like you probably couldn’t do better on the Strip – although all Strip casino are more comp generous to slot players than video poker mavens.

And your money management system is great. Keep up that disciplined approach and you will continue to have a reasonable entertainment choice!

I enjoy your blog! Thank you! It seems that I am one of the great unwashed who actually enjoys Harrahs. I began staying/playing at the Las Vegas Harrahs properties in 2004. I visit Las Vegas two or three times a year and I have always had a strict gambling limit of $300 a day. After four visits, I gained enough standing to get 5 nights comped during the week just about any time I want. I was Platinum one year, but other than that I have always been just a Gold level kind of a guy. I like the flexibility of choosing between the varied Harrahs properties and I have stayed at all of them except for Imperial Palace.

Are there some better players clubs that I should be looking into? I tried the VP thing, but it kinda made my head hurt trying to remember all the best plays, especially after indulging in a few free drinks, and I could never find a 9/6 machine anyway.

By the way, I always use the envelope system. Typically, I bring home $800-$1000 of my $1500 bank roll just by following 2 rules. At the end of the day, whatever is left of the $300 goes into the take home envelope. If I have a winning day, that also goes into the take home envelope.

Did the Diamond In A Day at Paris Las Vegas last week. The time is 5am to 5am. Played $5 9/6 Job (5 hands per play). Took about 3 hours to earn 3100 tier points. Lost about $900.

  6. My host said DIAD was from midnight to midnight. You might want to call and verify this.

  7. goose says:

jean, you said to play from midnight to midnight but doesn’t teh casino count your points on their business day which i believe is from 6am to 6am?

I reached DIAD at Harrah’s Reno getting 3000 base points. Their best games are $1 and $2 9/6 JOB and .25 (10 coin) 9/6 JOB. Next best are 8/5 BP and NSUD (98.91%). My understanding that you Diamond status achieved this way is good until Dec. 31, 2010.

  11. DIAD is not standard in all Harrah’s casinos. Usually 3-4K, but you should call the specific casino’s players club to verify the particulars, including the exact hours for this “day.”

  12. jim horne says:

Would prefer to try it in Las Vegas for offers from there. How many points in one day are required there in one day???

  13. This CAN be done as a renewal of your Diamond status for another year or as a new member.

  14. vegasvpplayer says:

The Diamond in a Day program gets you initial Diamond status, but usually does not work for Diamond renewal as I recall. Is this promotion different?

Harrah’s has the crappiest VP in Laughlin. There are much better plays there. Also, if you earn that Diamond card in Laughlin, Laughlin will be where most of the room offers are for. That said:

DiaD of 3000 points still means 30K coin-in. So this is a dollar player play only, and the best game is NSUD. The -EV (expected loss) of this play would be about $81. So, to get a couple of free nights in Laughlin sometime in 2010, this would be worth it–though rooms in Laughlin are so cheap, you never have to pay more than $40/night, and often much less. Of course, Harrah’s wouldn’t be the place you would choose to stay if you want to see the rest of Laughlin–it’s a good long walk to the other casinos from there.
