November Vegas Promotions

A general reminder:  Check back frequently to Scot’s Players Club Bonus Points list.  Often casinos add bonus multiplier days in the middle of the month.  Also, remember that  vpFREE2  gives not only information about where you can find good video poker games but also information about slot clubs at each casino, including point values and how they can be redeemed.

TUSCANY

Tuscany keeps some promotions the same this month.  10x points continues on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  Wingo remains on Tuesdays.  Again, some Thursdays are days for free gifts if you get a mailer (1st and 15th) – or you can earn the gift with 300 points.  On the 8th and 22nd you can get a 6-pack of beer for 300 points, limit of 4 per customer.

Back after a few months is the Pull Tab promotion, on Saturdays and Sundays.  1000 base points = 1 pull tab, max of three per day.  Tabs must be picked up on the same day earned.  If it is the same promotion as it was in previous months, all pull tabs give free play or cash, with $10 free play as the minimum – and usual – prize.  Brad and I have scored the top $50 cash prize only twice, but we find it a fun perk, happy whenever we get even a little more than the expected $10.

Although Tuscany is a core casino for many locals who can pick up the twice-weekly bounce-back free play, it is also a popular casino for many frugal out-of-towners.  They can take advantage of most of the promotions, including the multiple-point days, and even the low roller can earn substantial comps.  You are earning comps in your “hidden” bank at the same time you are earning points – the ones that you can see on the small card reader screen – for free play or cash.  Play an hour or two and then go to the slot club and ask how many comp dollars you have earned – and I bet you will be surprised!  They can be used for free rooms, in any of the eateries, and in the gift shop.

PALMS

The “Play, Earn, and Win” promotion continues on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with the usual earn-stuff option from Nov. 2-16. The option from Nov. 19-30 also includes gift choices, but by the picture on the mailer there is one choice of a Visa gift card.  However, one would have to wait until the 19th to get the details about this from the food court desk.

Every Tuesday there is a Swipe and Win promo, requiring 10 base points on slots or 50 on video poker to qualify to swipe for various free gifts.  And there are cash drawings every Friday and Saturday nights through Nov. 24th.  Pick up a flyer in the rack around the corner from the slot club desk to find the details of these two promotions.

HOOTERS

Some players are reporting fairly good monthly mailers, for both locals and out-of-towners.

THE “RANCHO DRIVE” STATION CASINOS

From an e-mail I received:  Station Casinos’ guests at casinos along Rancho Drive: Palace Station, Texas Station, Fiesta Rancho and Santa Fe Station, have the opportunity to win a car or cash nightly October 29-December 2 with the “Cars & Cash Bash” giveaway totaling $1.5 million in prizes. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, one Ford vehicle (select Escape, Mustang or Fusion models) will be given away at each property and four other guests will win $500 cash at each property. That breaks down to 60 guaranteed car winners and 240 guaranteed cash winners through the course of the promotion. Drawings will be held at Palace Station, Texas Station, Fiesta Rancho and Santa Fe Station every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at 8:15 p.m. Winners have 24 hours to claim their prizes.

Full contest details are available at www.sclv.com.

THE “COAST” CASINOS

Talk about Headache Time!

Looks like the Boyd Corporation is pulling a leaf from the Station playbook, and carving out mini-groups within their organization.  For quite awhile they have done some marketing to the group of casinos that were former Coast properties (The Orleans, the Suncoast, and the Gold Coast) although also including step-child Sam’s Town (not a former Coast but not a downtown property either.)  Often they would have the same multiple points days – except when they didn’t.  It was confusing then but we all muddled through, by checking out Scot’s list and newspaper ads, by bugging slot club personnel, and by reading carefully each monthly mailer we got from each casino.

However, this month it seems there is a big new merger of these 4 casinos, at least in the marketing arena. Some people got a new “booklet” mailer that had offers from all of the casinos in which they had played.  The problem is that others got separate mailers from each casino.  Brad and I play only at the Gold Coast and our “booklets” contained coupons and free play offers only for the Gold Coast, but it also gave information about promotions in other “Coast” casinos.

The Internet forums are buzzing with questions and frustrations. Couples from the same household and similar play have completely different types of mailers.  There is confusion about multiple point days on player calendars.  Are they specific only to the person who got the mailer or for everyone?  Are they good for only one casino or all the casinos mentioned in the mailer?  Is there a limit for each casino or is it for the total play at multiple casinos.  Is the combined free play for the month less than they got when there were separate mailers?  What if you were no-mailed from only one casino – would that stretch out now to all four casinos?

I try to give specific information in my monthly reports to help players navigate the complex casino marketing scene, but this month that is impossible for these “Coast” casinos.  I do know that for a long time now, free play offers depended on whether you had won or lost during the qualification period.  Win and your mailer value goes down; lose, it goes back up.  And I predict that won’t change.  However, figuring out offers and promotions – where they are, who can take advantage of them, and all those mailer mysteries – I think it may take some months for this to make complete sense.  And asking your questions at the slot club booth may not get a good “final” answer at the present time – even some of the higher executives themselves seem confused.  Maybe I’ll have more solid information next month – or maybe not.

Cross-marketing…headache… maybe I’ll just take an aspirin and go to bed!

Mo, In answer to your PULL TAB???
For every 1000 points on certain days you receive a small card ( I think the limit is 3) that has a tab on it that you pull off to reveal the free play prize amount. The minimum is $10, but it can be more. The slot club will then load your account for whatever is the amount on the card for that amount of free play.
    Hope that helps.

Pull tabs? I am not sure what those are?

The D is doing some very strong bounceback mailers for out-of-towners. I got $50FP+$50 match play+3 free nights for October, then the same offer but sweetened to 75/75 for November. This is as a result of about 12K coin-in during a visit in June. The rooms are nice but be sure to face away from the Fremont Street Experience if you want to get any sleep.

Red Rock and GVR have been sending me tournament invites (with rooms, and sometimes buffets) on a fairly regular basis, all because I played FPDW last April and got killed (-$450). The rooms at GVR are very nice even though it’s a monumental pain in the neck to get to them.

El Cortez has been sending me $40FP+$50 food+3 free nights+5X points for several years now. I get the offer once every quarter.

I’ve been getting good offers from these properties, and not diddly from other properties such as Coasts where I’ve dumped in a fair amount of coin this year. So guess who gets my business?

I have no illusions, by the way, that these offers would be nearly as good had I, Gawd forbid, won. But I have had a horrible year so far.

The nice thing about Tuscany pull tabs which are equivalent to at least 10x points is that the points can be acquired on any machine whereas not all machines qualify for on 10x points days.
