Caesars Information

I found out recently that Caesars has changed their mathematical formula that they use to allocate offers.  I don’t know just when they did this, but perhaps it was last fall since that was when, after years of no offers for us as Vegas locals, we began getting offers with substantial free play similar to those out-of-towners received. They use a very complex formula to calculate a customer MDV – Market Daily Value.  It is impossible for a player to find out all the elements that go into this formula – even the most experienced hosts don’t know all the details.  This new formula is supposed to factor in multiple-property play during the same trip for out-of-towners and more frequent but lower-play daily amounts for locals so that dreaded Daily Average monster doesn’t bite players.  However, many are finding that this monster still has not been killed.  The only bright spot here is that hosts have been given some new authority to review customer play and give them a higher rating and thus larger bounce-back offers for the above problematic scenarios.  Corporate evaluations and offer decisions routinely happen every three months so, if you have more recent bigger play, this would be another time when the help of a host would certainly benefit you.

About “free” Caesars cruises – or any casino cruise offer for that matter:  You definitely need to analyze the math here, with casinos piling on so many extra fees that many times they “sink” the offer.  You need to get out your magnifying glass and read the fine print very carefully.  Not only should you check to see what fees you will need to pay out of pocket, but what restrictions there are about combining certificates and how much extra you will need to pay for accompanying guests or cabin upgrades.  Some have found that finding a cruise on sale with another cruise line may have a smaller cost than the casino “free” sailing which limits you to one specific cruise company.   You need to compare options carefully.

From the “Seven Stars Insider” newsletter: It’s being phased in slowly company-wide, but you’ll no longer earn Reward Credits and cashback on free slot play. To be honest, most casino companies’ systems preclude you from this, so it was just a matter of time before Caesars execs figured this out. Frankly, it’s not that big of a deal when you do the math, but, again, it would have been nice if someone had told us.

Note on our recent Caesars buffet receipt:  Please limit your dining experience to two hours.  Hey, if I had to actually PAY those prices – instead of having a comp – for that buffet, I’d want to stay a lot longer than 2 hours to get my money’s worth!

I’ve never stayed in a buffet for that long, but
I’ve seen a few lumbering in that could do it and
    then some.

Jean, that is a funny comment on the bottom of Caesar’s buffet receipt. I enjoy eating when in Vegas, however have never had a 2 hour buffet session. Maybe they had marathon buffet eaters by recent visitors.

I suppose this would apply to large groups, who sit and wait for others to join them before getting food from the buffet.

  3. I try to stay out of discussions on casino personalities – but I imagine some others here might want to chime in!!! It’s a very complex issue, to be sure!

Hey Jean what are your thoughts on Gary Loveman? I think he has been a disaster for not only for his casino employees and patrons, but the finances of caesars corp. which he has run into the ground.
