FEBRUARY VEGAS PROMOTIONS

MORE PARTNERING

Pinnacle Entertainment Inc., a casino operator based in Las Vegas (but with no casinos in Las Vegas), has reached a deal with Wynn Resorts Ltd. giving its high rollers access to Wynn Las Vegas and Encore.  Pinnacle owns and operates 18 casinos and two racetracks around the country.

The Cosmopolitan Casino has a relationship with Marriott International in which points can be exchanged between the two loyalty programs.   http://cdcgamingreports.com/cosmopolitan-of-las-vegas-guests-can-transfer-points-between-identity-marriott-rewards-lvrj/

Back in January, Hard Rock International launched Hard Rock Rewards, a new global loyalty and unified guest affinity program with exclusive privileges when customers stay and play at participating cafes, rock shops, hotels and casinos worldwide.  Hard Rock International, a subsidiary of The Seminole Tribe of Florida, has a total of 181 venues in 58 countries, including 142 cafes, 18 hotels and eight casinos.  (Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel is not part of this and they have their own independent players club.)  Global customers can join Hard Rock Rewards by registering at a participating location or online at hardrockrewards.com where fans choose between a free or paid level of membership ($24.95).

TUSCANY

Wednesdays (except the 19th) are gift days.  Drawings are at 7 p.m. on Saturdays.

Pull tabs are back – at least for seniors (50+).  Thursdays have been designated as Senior Days all of February.  On these days, machine players can earn 2 pull tabs max by earning 500 points per tab, table players can get $10 in promo chips with a $50 minimum buy-in, and there are 2-for-1 entrees in Marilyn’s Café and The Cantina.  In addition, seniors now get a 20% discount off “EVERYTHING, EVERYDAY!”  This includes retail, restaurants, the gift shop, bars, lounges, the spa, and rooms.

PALMS

Play, Earn, and Win” continues as usual on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with a combination of “stuff” and gift cards to choose from, according to the pictures in my mailer.  For Feb 3-14 it shows a $200 Palms gift card; for February 17-28 it is an Albertsons $200 card.  One usually can’t find out the details until you are able to pick up the “order” sheet on the first day of each promotion.  This month you can again use points over multiple days, but you need to check in advance for the exact details of this benefit.

The scaled-back drawings continue on Fridays at 7 p.m.  One good feature for the low-roller is that, with the limits for the number of entries one person can earn, you have a better chance of being called than in the past.  And many like the new everyone-wins feature – if you have activated your entries and don’t get drawn, you will receive $10 in free play you can collect the next day.

The car wash continues to frustrate players, especially Brad.  It has been closed for many days now, and he likes to wash his “baby,” the Frugal Breeze, every week.   He is even threatening to spend real money to get the job done.  Oh, no!!!

ELLIS ISLAND

Pretty much same-old same-old here.  With your Tuesday and Saturday coupons you can again choose pizza OR a half Boardhouse sub (a choice of only regular turkey or ham).  Gift days are still on Sundays.  Drawings are on Wednesdays.

On Friday, February 28, Cards of the Day (2s and 8s) get a free play jackpot bonus.  Some machines are excluded from this promotion as well as from point multipliers.

They are celebrating national Margarita Day on Feb. 11, with $1 Margaritas all day at the casino bar.

BOYD PROPERTIES   (Gold Coast, Suncoast, Orleans, Sam’s Town)

Don’t forget – it’s a MUST at all four properties – players cards must be swiped at a kiosk BEFORE PLAYING in order to activate any point multipliers.  Some have forgotten this new rule, much to their grief because the players club employees have been instructed not to “fix” this problem.

And I must repeat this reminder: You need to check Scot’s Bonus Point list to find out the multiplier times at each of the four casinos.  They are definitely not all the same.  As of now, Suncoast is the only one that does not set a limit for promotional multipliers.  The other three have a limit of 10,000 base points which are eligible for promotional multipliers.  (There is no limit anywhere for the multipliers that Platinums and Emeralds get – 2x and 3x respectively.  A warning here:  When you finish playing and have pulled your card, be sure to double check that your multiplier “worked correctly.”  I have heard from several players who have found  mistakes that had to be corrected at both the Gold Coast and Suncoast this last month.

Another warning: there is a real problem with the Wednesday Senior Multipliers.  It seems some excited players who got big multipliers when they swiped and decided to do a lot of play to take advantage of them found their excitement turned to super disappointment.  Although they hadn’t seen or heard of any written rule of a total bonus maximum anywhere, evidently there is that rule somewhere.  I haven’t been able to research this yet to ascertain whether there rule about this property-wide or if it depends on the particular casino.  However, I would suggest that if you get a juicy mystery multiplier,  BEFORE YOU PLAY MORE THAN USUAL you might want to check with a SUPERVISOR if there is a maximum bonus limit – and get their answer IN WRITING.

SOUTH POINT

Looking for free gambling opportunities?  If you have lots of free time and not so much money, check out tournaments that have no entry fee, like the one for seniors (50+) at South Point on Thursdays.  For the details go to http://www.southpointcasino.com/press/12-senior-slot-rules.php?cid=598&jmid=62697&j=302610312

              DOWNTOWN

EL CORTEZ

If you didn’t get enough jackets at the Boyd properties last month, you aren’t out of luck.  El Cortez is giving out fleece jackets for jackpot winners in February.

Also a recent news release is touting a new “Personalized Website Feature for Club Cortez Members.  Club Cortez has unveiled its newest feature for rated members – a personalized URL website for players to keep track of their various offers and promotions.  This feature allows Club Cortez members a fast, simple and easy way to check on their earned benefits.”

El Cortez is the king of unusual promotions.  They will celebrate almost anything.   For example, on Feb. 28 they are celebrating the birthday of Bugsy Siegel, who owned the El Cortez for a brief six months in 1945, with a $5 Old Fashioned and Cigar special in The Parlour Bar for the day. And here is a special and unusual appearance on Friday, Feb. 21From 6:30 to 9 p.m., Budweiser’s legendary Clydesdales will be stabled on Jackie Gaughan Parkway in front of El Cortez.  Free admission and drink specials will be available.  Get details on all their promotions at pitch.pe/LCmDY2.

JERRY’S NUGGET

News Release:  Jerry’s Nugget Casino continues its 50th anniversary celebration with more exciting specials to welcome Super Sunday’s Big Game and Valentine’s Day.  This casino has long been famous for the great food in their coffee shop for reasonable prices. Check their Web site for specials in February, including a reasonable steak-and-lobster meal.   www.jerrysnugget.com

They also have released a $5 commemorative casino chip in celebration of their 50th anniversary!

The D and GOLDEN GATE

These two downtown Las Vegas casino hotels have become the first casino properties to accept Bitcoin.  They began accepting the popular digital currency for non-gambling transactions beginning Wednesday, Jan. 22.  (Truthfully I don’t understand this “non-money” way of paying.  Sounds very risky to me.)

NOTE:  I am sorry links here don’t work on your iPads.  We are working to solve that problem.

Not quite sure where you are getting your information on Bitcoin as a money laundering tool.
Although I’m sure it does happen, the public nature of all Bitcoin transactions prevent it being used in this way to any large degree.
By this I mean every transaction of Bitcoin is viewable to everyone that uses Bitcoin. Just think about that for a minute, that’s the same as seeing every transaction that goes through your bank.
In fact the director of the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network told the US Senate cash is still the best way to launder money.
By that reckoning I guess we need to avoid all casinos
BTW I don’t use Bitcoin myself so I have no self interest

this constant swipping of clubcards at the boyd properties is ridiculous..especially if you play at more than one property. next..we’ll have to swipe to go to the restroom!!! any ideas as to why they are doing this?

  3. Kevin Lewis says:

Bitcoin is a pseudo-money that is exchanged dollar-for-dollar for, well, dollars–which makes one wonder why any sane person would exchange one for the other. It has turned out, however, that because of its relative untraceability compared to other, more conventional forms of currency, particularly in international transactions, it has become the medium of choice for drug transactions, illicit arms sales, terrorist group financing, and sex slave trafficking. The D’s and Golden Gate’s acceptance of Bitcoin means that in addition to supporting the above “industries,” they will be the new Vegas epicenter of money laundering. I guess they figure the increased cash flow is worth the morally and legally dubious nature of the practice. I, for one, knowing what I know about Bitcoin, will never set foot in either of those places again.
