Personal Stuff

I appreciated greatly all the positive comments about my recent blog “story” –   “How it All Began.” (https://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/frugal-vegas/?p=3436 )  However, I need to make it clear that this was not labeled “Part 1.”  It was a one-time celebration piece about a memorable happening in Brad’s and my life 30 years ago.  There was no promise of “More to Come.”

That being said, I must admit that while I was finishing the piece I was thinking that this would be a good first chapter if I ever decided to write a memoir, a project that has been in the back of my mind for the last few years.  Sooooooo…probably…maybe….sometime….but don’t hold your breath.  Right now Brad and I are still too busy making memories for me to have time for writing about them.

Changing the subject although still on a personal note, I would like to address a question that was submitted to the LVA Question-of-the-Day recently.  Someone asked about Brad’s family, commenting that I don’t write about them as much as I write about my family.   So here are some details.

Brad was born and raised in Indiana and lived there until he and I moved to Las Vegas in 2000.  All of his family lives in the Midwest, many in the Indianapolis area.  He has two siblings still living, a younger sister and brother.  His two older brothers passed away some years ago.  He has two living children, a son and a daughter who live in Indianapolis, plus 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Brad’s children and adult grandchildren periodically come to Vegas to visit us, and we usually make a trip to Indiana every year or two for family reunions.  Last year we held the reunion at the Horseshoe Southern Indiana Casino where one of our Caesars hosts arranged a lovely dinner for all of us.  Several years ago Brad and I organized a trip for all the adults and their spouses and/or significant others to come for several nights in Vegas.  Thank goodness for lots of room and food comps!   Although none in his family are regular or serious gamblers, they enjoy a bit of recreational play when they are around casinos and especially when the patriarch passes around some fun money!

We look forward to the book insisting that it gets written like all the other books that kept you from retiring.
