Unusual Promotions

I just received press releases about a couple Las Vegas promotions that are a little different from the usual ones casinos often run.

The first one is from the Downtown Grand (located on the former site of Lady Luck).  This one sounds like a fun way to watch football!

Known for crisp fall temperatures, PICNIC at Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino is taking advantage of the ideal weather by offering guests the opportunity to watch football on the rooftop and drink under the stars. Officially beginning Thursday, Sept. 4, on Thursday, Friday and Sunday nights during football games, PICNIC will remain open after sundown. All guests who are 21 and over will be able to drink and watch football in PICNIC’s bar area. A bevy of new outdoor activities will be available including tables for foosball, ping pong, corn hole and beer pong. PICNIC is complimentary to both hotel and non-hotel guests.

On Thursday, Friday and Sunday nights, football games will be shown on televisions. PICNIC will close once the games conclude. During the games, starting at 5 p.m., drink specials will include $2 draft beers and $5 well cocktails. During the games, hungry fans can order delivery from Pizza Rock, located on Downtown3rd.Whimsical and nostalgic, the 35,000 square-foot PICNIC is reminiscent of a ‘50s pool oasis. Share a picnic basket and a blanket on the grass. Have a meal at a communal picnic table. Take a dip into the infinity pool. Enjoy a cocktail while taking in the incomparable vistas of Downtown3rd and Fremont Street Experience. Play blackjack under the stars. All this and more awaits guests at PICNIC, Las Vegas’ only urban rooftop pool experience. Guests can swim in the infinity pool, the only one of its kind in Las Vegas to be situated on a rooftop. PICNIC features manicured hedges and bright, lime green, comfortable modern furnishings.

The second interesting and different promotion is from Sam’s Town and offers a very healthy way to use players club points!

Every Thursday in September, from 9:30 a.m. until 1 pm., you can shop at a Farmer’s Market held in the Sam’s Town Live entertainment center.  (Emerald card holders will be admitted at 9 a.m.) You can redeem your points for Farmer’s Bucks to pay for your purchases. How cool is that!
